Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men.
Most men assume it's just age, stress, or something they ate. By the time they try to prevent, the condition has already progressed.
Warning signs to watch out for
1. Waking up at night to urinate — repeatedly Getting up once at night is common. But if you're waking up two, three, or four times to use the bathroom, that's your body trying to tell you something. This can be an early sign that your prostate is enlarged and putting pressure on your bladder.
2. Urine flow that feels weak or keeps stopping If your urine stream feels weaker than it used to be, or keeps starting and stopping, don't ignore it. This happens when the prostate presses against the tube that carries urine out of the body. It rarely gets better on its own.
3. Trouble getting started when you urinate Standing at the toilet and having to push or strain before anything comes out — especially if this keeps happening — is not normal. It's the kind of early change that is easy to miss but important to check.
4. Ongoing pain in your lower back, hips, or pelvis Back pain is something most of us blame on sitting too long or lifting something heavy. But if the pain keeps coming back and you also have urinary changes, it's worth getting properly checked. Persistent unexplained pain in this area should never be ignored.
5. Blood in urine or semen This one should never be waited on.
You are at higher risk if:
- You are above 50 years of age
- You are overweight
- You are a smoker
- You live a mostly inactive lifestyle
If any of these apply to you, please don't wait for symptoms.
A simple blood test called a PSA test can detect a problem long before symptoms appear ,giving you time to act…… it
This is what preventative care is about. Not panicking. Just staying ahead.
You don't need to be scared. You need to be informed. Most urinary problems turn out to be completely harmless.
Alternatively starting a proper diet. Taking preventative measures on the first sign of any of the symptoms, and your future self will thank you
